Music Makes the World Go Round

Help me give my students beautiful picture books, graphic novels, and rewards for reaching milestones that illustrate musical masterpieces to ignite an interest and encourage a passion for music!

My Project

Music is part of who we are and our life experiences. Music brings us together and connects people. Fourth graders in our school district get a general music education experience which leads to selecting an instrument of choice for choir, band, or orchestra in fifth grade. Our fourth graders explore with their voices and the recorder with our music teachers but I would love the Lazlo Learns Recorder to launch our year in music.

Books with musical themes encourage my fourth graders to explore their interest in music and see how it soothes the soul.

My hope is that when we read books together like Duet they will serve as a window to see how powerful, influential, and life changing music can be. What a beautiful way to introduce music and include all students in learning about music and literacy! Let's make the words come to life with the rhythm and rhyme of literature to create some beautiful sounds and a passion for music!

Along with having books with musical themes, it's also great to have rewards available for my readers to celebrate reaching milestones in our learning community. My fourth graders will love the musical water bottle stickers and the cute keychains they find in the reward cart! Not only does working toward a goal encourage my students to strive for excellence, but it also encourages them to read more. Thank you for helping make our classroom a rewarding place to be!
