This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Listening to music from other cultures is a great way to learn about the diversity and beauty of the world in which we live!
I teach third grade in a Southern California elementary school.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Many of them come from low-income households. My students are vibrant, enthusiastic learners. They love learning about music and cultures around the world.
My Project
I am requesting a set of high quality Cd's that present music from around the world. In addition to being able to learn about other cultures through their musical traditions, my students will be able to learn traditional folk dances from several different cultures.
Now, more than ever, the world in which we live is becoming a true global community.
I believe these materials will help my students to better appreciate the contributions of cultures different from their own. I think music is an excellent way to engage students in the learning process!
