This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember throwing away your favorite CD because it was scratched and you couldn't play it any more? Thanks to the 21st century technology, we can now download it onto an ipod and not worry about it.

I teach at a wonderful, multi-cultural, public school located in the San Fernando Valley.

We are a Title One school, and many of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes. My class includes students that are both English and non-English speakers, as well as students with disabilities. We start our day with the welcome songs and end our school day with a good bye song. Music is what makes kindergarten unforgettable and it makes learning fun.

My Project

Music is a vital part of learning in my class. Knowing that we always start the day with songs, parents like to sit in for few minutes to see their child sing and dance. Students are engaged right away as they walk in the door-even if they're late. Singing is part of our curriculum and it's part of our kindergarten life. Lately, our boombox turns off automatically in the middle of a song leaving our students standing waiting for our song to come back. We really need an ihome so that we can play our music and the CD "Totally Reading."

With your generous donation, our kindergarten students will start our school day with an excitement to sing and dance.

When students are excited about music, you know you have their full attention. When you have their full attention then the opportunity for learning is an open door.
