This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Literacy is one of the most important things our students learn in schools! Using storybooks that contain the words of engaging and familiar story songs is one way I like to have students practice literacy in the classroom.

Literacy is more than just reading and writing written words.

It is also the ability to glean meaning from any number of sources. Learning to find meaning in music notation and transfer that to a piano is music literacy. Learning to read a ukulele tuner and transfer that to correctly tuning the instrument is music literacy.

These materials will help my students practice both written word literacy and music literacy in my classroom, and have fun while they do it!
