My students absolutely love exploring new music! One of joys of coming to music class is the chance that students have to discover music that they didn't know they would like. I love seeing the delight on their face when they find that they really LOVE the music of Beethoven or Vivaldi.
My students love everything about music class.
They love to sing, play instruments, play games and enjoy creating musical experiences. I want to do everything I can to make sure that my students have a variety of meaningful experiences that will enrich their learning and help them to become life long learners and lovers of music. One way I do this is by offering my students a wide variety of listening opportunities.
My Project
Often during listening lessons, my students ask really good questions and want to hear more from different composers. I want my students to be able to use their time wisely in music class. If a student comes in already familiar with Beethoven's 5th Symphony, I would love to be able to extend the learning of individual students by allowing students the opportunity for additional listening in small groups. Building listening centers will also allow me to give the control and musical choice to students. They will be able to consume and appreciate a wider variety of music this way. Additionally, headphones and listening stations will enable us to use some of the more noisy musical apps on our new iPads. With headphones, students won't disturb the work of others when they are working.
Headphones and listening stations will enable me to differentiate the learning opportunities for my students.
Headphones will enable students to explore noisy apps and listening to music they chose themselves. If there is a part of the music they liked especially, they can go back and listen again without disturbing anyone Thank you for making our music classroom rock!
