Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in an area of New York City which is notable for its incredible diversity of cultures. More than half of the residents are foreign-born, representing every one of the world's continents. Despite this, many of my students' families do not have the resources and opportunities to explore the area's rich cultural and musical resources.
My 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students are learning to play guitars and we need a few more things before we can officially begin.
They are excited to learn about music and perform songs on the guitar.
Many of my students are kinesthetic learners and learn best when performing on various instruments such as the classical guitar, electric guitar, Ukulele. When I am able to integrate music learning with other subjects, such as math, reading, world history, geography and social studies, my students tap into a learning environment where all learning is connected. That understanding is what compelled me to create this project.
My Project
All of my 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students are extremely excited about learning to play the guitar. We mainly have acoustic guitars in the classroom, so the the materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students are accessories that would help my students learn in a safe learning environment in which all students will get a chance to share these wonderful materials.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and engagement, you will ultimately help to increase their love and passion for music and nurture their talents and provide them with an outlet for creativity-one in which they can always look back upon.
The electric guitar amplifier will allow my students to hear what a real electric guitar sounds like. The guitar straps will help my students to be able to sit comfortably so that the guitar does not fall. The guitar stands and Ukulele stand will allow for the instruments to be stored and picked up safely.
