This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is trying to bring music education back to elementary schools. Help me start music education in Transitional Kindergarten.
My students are 4- and 5-year-old children who are not old enough for Kindergarten.
They come to me for Transitional Kindergarten. The majority come from low income homes. The majority of my students are also learning English as a second language. My students love to learn and love school! I try to keep it that way.
My Project
My students will start the new school year with a music lesson in the classroom. A company will come to the school and teach a 45-minute music lesson. Each child will get a rhythm instrument. In a hand-on lesson, they will learn to play music and learn age appropriate language/academic skills through music.
This project will bring music education back to my public school.
It will make learning real, fun, and engaging. Not all children are auditory or visual learners. This music lesson will allow for kinesthetic learners to excel in their first year of school!
