This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach general music in one of the nation's poorest cities. I see nearly 575 students in grades Pre-K to 8 for 45 minutes once a week.
Our district has very little money for instructional supplies.
Being a music teacher I get almost no money. My younger students love it when I use props with songs and music activities. Scarves, bean bags and parachutes are great ways to keep younger students engaged in a lessons, specifically Pre-k to 2 students. We would love to have these materials in our music classroom to use as props with songs for movement activities and in vocal explorations. I am also requesting some CDs specifically designed to use with these materials.
My Project
We will use the scarves for a variety of movement activities. Young children love to be expressive and scarves are a great way to show that. The bean bags would be used for a variety of movement activities as well as vocal explorations, helping children find their singing voices. There are endless activities we could do with a parachute! The CDs would provide a great background to all our movement activities.
You donation will make it possible for hundreds of young music students learn to be expressive through song and movement.
