My Students

I teach a fun, active group of 25-second graders. They love to learn and work together. In second grade, we learn a lot of new skills every day. These students are eager to learn and apply their skills every day!

My students are on a variety of levels in the classroom.

They need engaging ways to practice the skills they are missing. My students that are reading above level need engaging ways to challenge their brains!

They need new and exciting experiences to keep them engaged in our curriculum. I like to provide them with experiences that will immerse them in the learning and teach them about the world we live in.

My Project

This year has been tough for students. They aren't sure of what's going on and have a lot of feelings. They sometimes aren't sure how to express their feelings. Music is a great way to help students learn about their feelings and help them to calm down.

Playing music engages the neocortex of the brain, helping calm you down.

Students are often needing fun and engaging ways to calm their anxieties down and help them relax them.

Music also can help us feel what each emotion feels like. When we understand what the emotions feel like, we are able to understand when we are feeling them. The first step to dealing with our emotions is to name them and understand what they are. Music can also help us express our emotions when we aren't able to express them with words.

My students need Boom Whackers to help them listen to and play music to understand their emotions and help with their social emotional learning.
