This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In a low-income, Latin & Mexican American population of Chicago, I educate students that have hearts of gold. I teach in a school where the students come to school to receive an education and to be safe from the crime in their neighborhood. They support one another to be successful, work in groups, and share in each other's glory. My students are truly on the path to success. They are exceptional thinkers and have a truly inspiring work ethic.

As a member of the school and community, I do my best to support my students and provide them with the best possible experiences and learning opportunities through music.

Our school provides the students with experiences in various after school clubs, and a fulfilling experience in the fine arts (media, art, and music). However, we are low on funds and resources. These students should have access to instruments and materials in order to achieve a true fine arts experience. I come to you with hopes to bring the best educational experiences to my students. Will you be the reason they are successful?

My Project

All students are eager to become something bigger than themselves. One way they can have this opportunity is by immersing themselves in music. Through standard based learning, music fundamentals can be difficult. My students need instruments, tools for comfort, and repair items as well.

Through the donation of ukuleles, picks, and strings, my students can operate in a fully-inclusive environment where all of my students will have access to an instrument that is fun and adaptable to all different styles of student learners!

Ukuleles make learning music fundamentals and song structure more engaging, while filling the voids of my smaller students, or those who modify chord approaches on guitar. The picks will supply every student in my school with a tool that will save their fingers and hands from injury while performing various rhythms and chord progressions. Supplying our classroom with replacement strings will guarantee that when accidents happen, that my students can fix their instrument and move forward!

With your donation, you will not only provide materials, but you will be supplying an engaging and memorable learning experience that is fully-inclusive to every student in my school.
