My students need 22 different musical books to teach them about cultures, history, and music all over the world.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Music can reach students easily--but how can that experience be enhanced? Despite an enthusiasm for music, my students do not have access to books that relate to the subject. Their musical education is hindered by our school's $0 music budget.
My students are high poverty urban children who attend a public K-8 school in New Jersey.
They are incredible and curious but are often limited in what they see and experience by lack of funding. They have an innate love of music and take pride in their always increasing knowledge of it.
My Project
If my students received these books about music, their base knowledge would be significantly increased. They would read stories about composers and musicians from all over the world, learning about everything from opera to jazz to rock and roll. They would experience illustrations that depict instruments they have never heard of and see portraits of barrier breaking artists who have made the world a better place.
Donations to this project will make a difference because my students will enjoy these books so much.
They are enthusiastic, deserving children with a natural eagerness to learn about music from all over the world. Thank you so much for considering donating to us.
