My Students
My students have really struggled with distance learning since the pandemic began last spring and our school went to online school only. As we look towards this fall, it appears we may start the year online as well. All of these resources will allow me and my students to navigate this uncharted territory more successfully.
This school is a 100% poverty school where children struggle to have school supplies and properly fitting clothes for school every day.
We do not have a functioning PTO/PTA group at our school, so it up to the administration to find funds for my music classes and their budget is always stretched way too thin. Funds from sources such as DonorsChoose help to fill in the funding gaps.
My Project
These books will be so useful to read to my students, especially as we continue our virtual learning for the remainder of this semester.
We need more more books that better reflect the Black and Latinx students at my school, and this project would go a long way in helping this disparity in resources.
I love reading books to my K-2 music classes every week and I know my students will enjoy having new books read to them every week in music class. Our school library is desperately lacking in these types of books, unfortunately.
