Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently a Special Education teacher at an elementary school. I have 12 EBD (Emotional Behavior Disorder). I teach 3 grade ranges from 3rd to 5th graders. Despite the differences, what all my students have in common is that they are a group of awesome special education students. They have a wide range of disabilities, needs, talents, and interests. Some struggle to communicate their ideas and feelings, while others are great public speakers and expressing their thoughts comes easily. Some struggle with writing and need a lot of support to put words on paper, while others find writing an enjoyable hobby. Lastly, some are reading grade level novels independently while others need to hear all texts read aloud in order to comprehend them.

My Project

Many of my students are moving from home to home or staying at shelters or in a motel. My students do not have enough food to eat at home. My students are lucky to have free breakfast and lunch when they are at school, but during the weekend they do not have much to eat or drink. My students need healthy snacks to take home for the weekend. A healthy snack for the weekend will help my students from being hungry. Simple snacks like the pringles, water, noodles and WELCH'S Variety Pack Fruit snacks are some of the healthy snacks that will help brighten my students day. I am also requesting the igloo mini Refrigerator to keep the juices and water cold. It would nice to for my student to have cold drinks for the weekend. My students will use the zephyrhills water to put in their noodles to eat and drink at home. Many of students are in shelters they need the water to drink at the shelter and use it for their noodles. My students are always eager to learn and work hard every day. By having a simple healthy snack, my students can be more engaged in class work and you will help us make a difference in their future.
