My Project

Dear DonorsChoose Community,

At the start of the school year, 12 of my students scored at a first grade or lower level in math; each student set high goals for themselves afterward.

Will you help them achieve their goals?

My goal is to make fractions and multiplication come to life in the classroom through hands-on and engaging materials. Currently, my students excel in online games like IXL, leveraging technology to "grow their brains" in math. While digital materials are beneficial, we're excited to include more hands-on, interactive math manipulatives.

For example, using pizza costumes, decor, and fraction tools, we'll transform the classroom, letting students explore fractions in meaningful ways. Next, students will use the ink dabbers to build multiplication arrays and they will use hula hoops to build equal groups. The multiplication bracelets will strengthen our classroom community and times table skills. Finally, we'll write multiplication equations on the beach balls to toss during our morning meetings. Thanks to your contribution, my third-grade students will be able to grasp math concepts interactively, laying a solid foundation for their future academic success.
