This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach an incredible group of third graders who are curious, hardworking, and eager to explore the world of numbers. They thrive when learning is interactive and light up when they can touch, move, and manipulate materials to solve problems. My students come from diverse backgrounds, and many learn best through hands-on experiences that bring math to life.
The math manipulatives I’m requesting—such as place value blocks, fraction tiles, and number lines—will make abstract concepts concrete.
Instead of just memorizing numbers, my students will physically build and break apart numbers, compare fractions, and explore mathematical patterns that make sense to them. These tools will boost their confidence, deepen their understanding, and make learning engaging and fun.
My goal for this project is to provide my students with the resources they need to develop a strong foundation in math. These hands-on materials will help them gain problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and the confidence to tackle more challenging math concepts.
