Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our classroom, our students unique perspective and skills make it difficult for them to learn in a traditional classroom setting. They require multisensory learning approaches to engage their visual, auditory and kinesthetic-tactile pathways. For this reason, I would like to provide them with opportunities that allows for them to manipulate letters and numbers with a more hands-on and engaging method. Our students will use letter tiles to decode and encode words. They will use decodable texts to achieve reading success. They will use the magnetic wands and discs to make listening for phonemes more interactive. The fidget poppers will engage students as they memorize their multiplication facts. We are positive that by giving our students the opportunity to learn something using multiple modalities that we are ensuring the information is made to make a more memorable impact and be internalized.

Due to the loss of learning from the past two years our students have fallen behind even further than their peers.

The additional resources will help students advance through a more hands on approach to learning using research based Science of Reading manipulatives and math materials. These materials will help students fill in the gaps and focus on the areas students struggle most in reading and mathematics fluency.
