My Students
"Miss, will we get to make videos this year?" This is a question that I was asked several times in the first days of school this year. I would love to tell them "yes, definitely!" but with a lack of equipment this is a difficult proposition.
I teach English Language arts to 90 7th graders and yearbook to 25 8th graders.
Though my school is a Title 1 school, all the students have some familiarity with technology and get very excited when they are given the opportunity to use technology in class.
My Project
I am requesting three digital cameras along with cases, memory cards and tripods. My yearbook class will be able to use these to take picture during school events and field trips to document for the yearbook that is entirely created by the class. These cameras will also be used by my English Language Arts students to create multimedia projects for class such as book reports and multimedia presentations
Not only does using this technology make students more excited to participate in school activities, but they can also learn skills which will benefit them as they prepare for college and careers in their future.
Technology is such an important part of our world today and it is essential that students are familiar with and able to use technology in an appropriate way.
Who knows, a future filmmaker or photographer might be inspired by their use of this technology in my class.
