Multimedia Access for a 9th Grade English Classroom!
My students need an LCD projector that displays multiple media forms from art and photography.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. S.'s classroom raised $1,148

In our school, we have an explicit focus on preparing students for college and careers. We accept students based on a lottery, meaning we serve a population that is overwhelmingly receiving free and reduced meals and coming from low-income homes.
And yet, my English classroom is one of dynamic participants eager to learn and engage with the material. Many students have learned to love reading in our classroom; some have yet to get "hooked." Each day we press forward, engaging with the text or topic being taught in that day's lesson. As the leader of my classroom, I am on a mission to prepare them for college and career using the most effective and relevant instructional strategies our nation has to offer. This is where you come in!
What is it like to teach students how to engage in a Socratic discussion from simple pen and paper? Insufficient.
How can I effectively get students to analyze art from around the world -- with black-and-white photos printed from our school printer? It take some imagination.
Both of these instances would be improved if I could SHOW them a discussion of current topics being debated; or SHOW them a piece of artwork in vibrant color, for all to easily access, (maybe with a supplementary video, too!). Instead of printing pictures of the Globe Theatre when I get to my Romeo and Juliet unit, I'd rather take them on a digital tour through many available videos on the internet.
To do this I need an LCD Projector. It would also serve a secondary purpose: many of my students need glasses, so many that they all can't sit up front close to the board. An LCD projector allows me to make my warm-ups and other class materials large enough for all students in my class to see.
I'm in my second year of teaching, and resources at my school are scant. I am reaching out to you for support. This LCD projector will allow my students to experience and interact with the Internet, audio, video, and websites that inform their path to college and career.
Any donation will be put towards an engaging lesson that brings my classroom into the 21st century, one learning opportunity at a time. My students are grateful for your support, as am I.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
