Help me give my students who will be graduating from the English Language Learning program the tools to continue expanding their language progress by reading stories of others who experienced the same journey with them.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
More than 64% of our students are multilingual learners who speak different languages as their home language. And more than 50% of those students are in the English Language Learning (ELL) Program. Every year, our students who are in the ELL program are required to take the ELPA test to showcase their multilingual superpowers. Those who are able to showcase their oral and written language development will be able to graduate from the ELL program.
Graduating or exiting from the ELL program will open opportunities for them.
Students who are graduating or exiting from the ELL program can also be on track for a Seal of Biliteracy when they reach High School. Providing them with more opportunities beyond classrooms. This and every year, our students work hard to graduate from the ELL program and the items in this project will be gifted to those who graduate and have made significant improvement within a year.
This project aims to celebrate multilingualism and asset-based mindset when it comes to multilingualism. We are also highlighting characters who are embracing their multilingualism through their journey. With this project, students will have the tools such as books, notebooks, and snacks to continue their journey as enriched multilingual!
