Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our bilingual preschool students love retelling stories from their favorite books using puppets, props, and dramatization. As a way to celebrate diversity in our classroom, we would like to give them access to books and props that are both windows of other cultures and mirrors of their own culture. The Lakeshore Multicultural Storytelling Kits come with soft-stuffed cloth pieces with images from each story with velcro, so students can place them in order as they retell the story.

These multicultural props celebrate diversity while bringing the story to life for our young readers!

The 6 books include Bedtime Bonnet, Festival of Colors, Marisol McDonald Doesn't Match, Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao, Under My Hijab, and Fy Bread. These books and storytelling props will be used during our whole group storytime, our small group activities, and available in our Library for students to use during Free Play. We hope you can support our project and share it with others who wish to support our young bilingual learners!
