My Students
My second graders come from all over the world. They each bring their own unique talents and experiences to the classroom, and are incredibly excited about learning.
As we read stories, they are constantly examining the illustrations and making observations that they are eager to share with one another.
They are always asking questions, wondering why things work the way they do, or how things come about. They love working together with one another, and encouraging each other to become leaders!
My Project
I am requesting 1 classroom rug for everyone to sit and learn together. This rug, featuring a world map, and children from all over the world will become a place for my diverse students to come together, and learn with one another. This rug will become the center of our literacy lessons. We will gather together for read-alouds, shared reading and buddy reading.
The diverse children on the rug will allow my students to not only make connections to their own lives, but learn more about the world around them!
We will use our past experiences, and hopes and dreams to connect with the texts that we read together.
We will also use this rug as a place to gather and play math games with one another. My kids absolutely love playing games! And this rug will be a perfect place for them to pair up and learn together in a fun way!
