My Project
My 6th grade students are a fun, diverse, and inquisitive group of children! At our small K-8 school in the Bronx, we have managed to bring our students back to school as safely as possible, while making sure to reinforce interpersonal connections, support their emotional well-being, encourage their curiosity, and look for any opportunity to help them feel welcome and appreciated!
This school year, I am fortunate enough to have students from different backgrounds and with varied interests, who love to learn and enjoy reading about others from around the world!
It's great to see that they can be interested in stories from long ago that cultures have told and retold for thousands and thousands of years -- it makes it all the more fun when they can share with each other and provide recommendations. I want to see my students get excited when learning about other cultures and their respective mythology this year! By having options within the mythology books and cultures to choose from, students will get to learn not only about different stories and their significance to ancient civilizations, but they will also be able to find commonalities between the different stories, and perhaps even grow curious about their own cultures' myths and legends.
My students deserve to have a classroom library that reflects their own personalities and interests, while also expanding upon their current knowledge and opening up a window into new magical worlds. It would be amazing to have them pick up a book that will spark their imagination and resonate with them in meaningful ways!
