This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We were in school like a normal day not knowing what was to come. We thought we would be out for a few days. Most of the students took home a library book to use for remote learning if it came to that. It did come to that and more! My seniors will miss out on so many activities like their trip, breakfast, and more.
We didn't even get to say goodbye.
My Project
Today's classrooms are more diverse than ever before. Multicultural books are needed and help students embrace differences by showing them the strengths of diversity.
It can be disheartening for students to read a never-ending stream of stories full of characters they can not relate to.
In contrast, students get a boost in self-esteem when they read books in which their cultures or ethnicities are represented.
I want to offer my students books that represent themselves in both the story and on the cover! They will love this assortment to be given to them to read while they are learning from home. Having a good book to curl up and read is a great thing. They can forget all of the problems going on around them and go into another world. Thank you for any help in making this possible.
