This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It's been two years since our students have had a specific hands-on arts & class class, and it's been amazing to bring this creative elective back to our school! In addition to providing students with a time and space during the academically driven school day to slow down and be creative, our class aims to connect some of the art we do in here to the rich multicultural art that is not always valued as much in the western world. This coiled basket weaving project will teach students about the Native American history with weaving and allow them to experience a different type of artmaking.
