Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Post Covid, kindergarten teachers have seen a huge uptick in students that have difficulty making sounds. Using the mirrors to help students realize where their sounds are created will help them to be able to produce sounds properly. In small groups, we work very hard on blending sounds together. The magnetic bingo chips will provide a twist and help keep students engaged. The table spots will keep students in their areas and provide an additional dry erase surface which will be especially helpful for math and reading small groups.
Many of our daily use items are very low in supply.
New crayons and small golf pencils will help students to keep moving on assignments instead of having to wait their turn for a particular color. The occupational therapists at our school have encouraged the use of smaller pencils because it will help the multiple students work to strengthen their grips.
The laminating pouches and sheet protectors will help cut down on the amount of copies needed. We are also excited to add new things to our calm corner like the breathing ball and the mindful maze set.
