Help me give my students a multi-sensory room filled with sensory hammock swings, calming sounds, and lighting to relax, decompress, and regulate their emotions.
More and more students in schools are being diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and other disabilities. Often these diagnoses come with sensory processing disorders. Students with ADHD, Autism, and Sensory Processing disorders often have trouble being successful in school because they become overstimulated easily. One way to aid the success of these students is to create a sensory room filled with items like sensory swings, dimmed lighting, and calming sounds/scents. Sensory rooms improve students visual, auditory, and tactile processing.
At my school there are many students that have trouble with focusing, attention, and sensory processing that would have access to these items if funding was available.
The students here would be more grateful then you know to have these items available to aide in their sensory needs to be successful in school.
