This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students in my reading intervention class are struggling readers and need multi-sensory activities to help them improve phonemic awareness, phonics, and reading comprehension skills.
Multi-sensory activities provide needed scaffolding to struggling readers and enhance learning and memory.
The hands-on strecthing noodles will incorporate visual, kinesthetic, and tactile experiences, allowing my students to engage in whole brain learning while supporting their reading journey. Additionally, we are requesting a large clock to help our groups transition smoothly and dry-erase frames to post schedules.
The multi-sensory tools are aligned with best practices of the Science of Reading which supports the foundational skills of reading, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary and fluency.
