Multi-Sensory Movement Group to Promote Writing Skills for Young Learners!
Help me give my students materials they need to help foster writing skills in Pre-K and Kindergarten for whole-class push-in group OT sessions! My students in other grades will also benefit from these materials one-on-one during their sessions.

My Project
I provide Occupational Therapy services in a school-based setting, focusing on fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing, visual motor skills, and more! The output of these skills in the school environment is students reading, writing, and keeping up with their peers. While sessions in the past have traditionally been out of the classroom and in a separate location such as the therapy room, we are trying to promote more inclusive services by fostering skills and activities in the classroom for all students to benefit from. Over the last 2 years, I have started to "push in" to classrooms to provide supports to all students in a class. These group sessions typically involve stations that target their fine motor skills, visual motor skills, and gross motor skills. Combined, these skills make them better readers, writers, and overall learners! The materials listed in my project will help me provide teachers with tools that they can use even when I am not there, so that the students have more access and can carry over these skills more often. These items allow students learning letters, numbers, and shapes to see, build, feel, and write them to have a better understanding of these concepts. The students currently love the groups that I have been running, and would be so excited to have more materials to use and more access during the week to support their learning and make it fun! Children learn the most through play, so let's make it as fun as possible!
