it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The TK students at this school are curious and engaged learners that have a drive to constantly practice the skills they are learning every day. Multi-sensory tools can make a huge difference in students engagement, understanding and retention in mathematics instruction.
The use of sight, touch, hearing, and movement can make it easier to understand what numbers and symbols represent and the multisensory tools in this project can help kids learn math.
The magic rail twirlers, with their fascinating movement and lighting effects, will help students keep their hands busy and their mind focused as they count how many times they can make the magnetic wheel magically run around the wire rails without falling off. In addition to encouraging these little learners to strengthen their number sense and counting rhythm, these tools will help them explore the ideas of gravity and magnetism.
The Yrissmiss educational ball sensory toys will also strengthen number sense while helping to build a strong foundation in geometry. This magnetic sensory tool is a collection of 20 balls that are connected to each other and can only be rotated but not disassembled. This allows students to compose and decompose a variety of solid shapes and explore the properties of these shapes. It also gives students experiences with multiplicative thinking while they discover that 20 can be made of 2 groups of 10, 5 groups of 4, or 2 groups of 6 and 2 groups of 4 and other combinations.
