My Project
In my classroom, I have a diverse group of learners with many different learning styles. The materials, such as the blending board and cards, would support them through the use of multisensory learning opportunities with an emphasis on phonemic awareness skills and word blending. These skills are essential for beginning readers. The multi-textured sand would meet the needs of tactile learners when learning letters, sounds, words, and more. This sand is specifically designed to have two different textures/grain sizes to aid in the learning process. The metal wand would be beneficial in teaching word segmenting and "magic e" words, also essential for beginning reading skills, adding novelty and fun to the reading process. All of them will be used for whole group learning purposes, as well as, small group learning activities. I have seen these materials in action in another classroom and feel that having a set of my own to utilize with my students would greatly impact their learning.
