Help me give my students access to their curriculum as they are all visually impaired. My students need to access their curriculum by exploring multi-sensory materials which could include braille, tactile, auditory, and smell. Card games encourage socialization.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All my students are wonderful, but their access to the school curriculum is unique, as they are all visually impaired. Vision is measured on spectrum which could be from low vision to completely blind, so students have different needs.
The materials I have selected have multi-sensory features that addresses these different visual needs.
For example a braille labeler helps to label the environment, tactile dots are used to mark braille worksheets, tactile wiki sticks draw math shapes and graphs, and an abacus helps with addition and subtraction. An auditory book, puzzle, tactile alphabet letters, and high contrast books encourage literacy. Playing cards is fun and it helps with making friends and socialization at school. Index cards will be used to make flashcards that contain text to speech screenreader programs keyboard shortcut commands. This is a good and fun way for students to test themselves on their technology. Once they know these keyboard commands they will be efficient in accessing classroom worksheets and websites. Some low vision students prefer using Expo markers to write math problems and sight words on a whiteboard. This year I have some little boys that love monster trucks, and the lighted trucks and the monster truck book (used with a magnifier) will encourage them to learn about shapes, colors, while learning about the different aspects of a book.
Thank you for this opportunity, and for your consideration.
