Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
During the difficult times of COVID-19, the most refreshing thing a teacher can see is their students smile. My students have come to this school year with several strikes against them, i.e. language barriers, poverty, social distancing and mask wearing just to name a few. Yet they still come to school smiling and eager to learn. Their excitement and thirst for knowledge encourages me to share my love of music even more everyday.
My Project
In the music classroom having the ability to have functional, movable seating is a plus. Space is needed for instruments, instrument storage and dancing. For this reason, I utilize 5-gallon buckets for my seating. These are easily stacked, easily stored and light enough for kindergartners to move. Having seats for our bucket chairs provides more functionality of the buckets.
These seats will allow for classroom materials, like cleaning supplies, pencil, staff paper and sticks, to be stored in the bucket instead of having to pass the items out.
This ability will help facilitate quicker access to materials, student responsibility of items and their cleanliness.
