My Project
Working in a Title I school is challenging but incredibly fulfilling. We need materials to help our students to grow their vocabulary for the world around them.
Servicing over 50 grade K and grade 1 Multi Lingual (ELL) students, we would like to offer the students a chance to make learning fun through play and touch.
The poverty level in our district is at 93% living below the national poverty level. Toys are scarce and special! The goal is to make learning both rewarding and enjoyable. Using tools that relate to the world around them and mirroring their grade level curriculum will strengthen our young minds.
In our school, we are currently teaching our ML population a special curriculum called Vista that is centered around daily life and life skills. The trucks and cars are aligned to our community unit, the dolls to our unit on families, the dental and food toys are to expand the unit on strong bodies and healthy eating. My favorite Vista unit we teach is on animals, the students learn all the vocabulary for animals, tails, tusks, fins, scales, and hooves. What we all learned as children listening to stories, these students are learning for the first time. Thank you for you consideration in making learning more hands-on!
