My Project

I'm honored to serve at a school that has students who represent different cultures and countries. I want students to learn about their culture's music, and other students to be exposed to different kinds of music. One great way is by introducing instruments that are commonly used in different cultures' music. For example, starting with simple instruments like Rhythm sticks in the younger grades and as they move grade levels they will be able to use Claves which are very similar. They will already know how to hold the instrument, play the instrument, and translate that knowledge into learning different music with their classmates and making music together.

Ultimately, the goal of all of these instruments is to compare playing different instruments in an ensemble with the students sharing their different gifts and talents.

Each student has unique gifts and talents. When they work together they will find that each of their unique abilities can help one another, and eventually the community around them.
