Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at an innovative learning center that is STEM based. My fabulous first graders crave the hands-on experience and love to spend their time playing games, reading books from cover to cover and getting lost in read alouds from their teacher.

Our school celebrates successes great and small.

With most of our students on the free or reduced price lunch program, many who are language learners, and some who are homeless, we strive to create a positive atmosphere to help them thrive! We challenge them with the curriculum but we balance their day with fun memorable activities they can take home and share. We have a limited budget for technology but we try to give them the tools to keep up with our technologically advanced world.

My Project

As a first grade teacher, I have a very tough job of not only teaching them reading foundational skills, but I want to teach them to love reading. The only way I can compete with technology is to fill my classroom library with high interest books. I want my students to be excited about books!

I chose the Kindness Pack because we need kindness more than ever!

I need our youth to know kindness, how to spread it, how to use it to heal the world and how to feel it. What better way to help them with this life skill then through books?
