Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with brilliant first-generation, low income, college bound high schoolers in East Oakland. For many of my students school is the only safe heaven, the only place where they can truly relax, eat a warm meal and focus on learning and being kids.

I support various math classes and have noticed that providing snacks and incentives makes a huge difference in their ability to focus, recall information and in general has shifted their view on school for the better.

Through this project I intend to provide additional incentives and continue creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for all of my students.
