My students need nonfiction reading materials to expand their learning on the world.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Mottu's classroom raised $395
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing! They all live around our community school and love that they get to see all aspects of our community center and school combine to an amazing experience. We are fortunate enough to have materials here in class, but the students need more. They are hungry for knowledge, I want to be able to give them the knowledge they want and deserve.
Most of my students are below grade level, which in kindergarten means no letter or number recognition.
These materials will help my students grow their brains and get the knowledge they hunger for.
My Project
For this project specifically, I noticed something about my students that stood out to me. They loved non-fiction books. We have all kinds of stories about princesses, animals, and school, but there wasn't many books about the real princesses, animals and school. The kids would fight over the National Geographic books we had and nearly tore them apart. I decided then that I needed to do something about this.
I want my students to be successful and have full knowledge of the world around them.
I believe these National Geographic books will broaden their horizons and let them explore the world through reading.
