Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As we all know COVID-19 has greatly impacted the way that students are taught. This will now continue into the fall semester of the 2020-2021 school year.

Because of the pandemic, I will need to provide learning online for the 1st semester and possibly the entire school year through distance learning.

Our students are in a particularly hard hit area that has a 12% positivity rate for COVID-19. All of our students are from economically disadvantaged households. Many of their families are essential workers or have lost their employment due to the pandemic.

In order to provide high quality, online education there are some items that I will need in order to be successful.

While I have a computer and an iPad, I’ll need other materials to engage the students as well as make online learning fun!

My Project

The materials in my distance learning classroom will greatly enhance student learning. The magnetic white board will enable me to engage my students and teach them from my home office just like I would if we were in an in-person classroom. The blue tooth headset will make sure I hear my students and that they hear me clearly!

Giving my students the sense of normalcy when we will eventually transition from distance learning to in-person learning will help make this seamless and ease the student's minds and hearts about entering my fourth/fifth grade class, because our routines will be the same.
