Help me give my students tools to make their ceramic project visions a reality! We currently don't have enough colors or tools, but with your help, we will!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My high school art students are creative critical thinkers that soak up the world around them. They are highly engaged by the hands-on learning in our ceramics class. They express their individual and cultural identities through the artwork they lovingly and thoughtfully create here. Many students didn't get to come to school regularly last year as we collectively faced the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, but they are back in school now, and eager to express what they've learned in the school of life through their artwork. Truly, they are my artistic inspiration!
My students are ready and able to make masterpieces, but we lack some of the necessary materials to make our creative visions reality.
Each human in my classroom bursts with creative potential and the drive to create. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and personalized learning options to ensure that each students' creative and academic needs are met as they step into their identity as creators of the future world. They are truly an incredible group of people, and I am deeply grateful for their trust. It is my honor to facilitate their creative development.
My Project
These ceramics supplies are critical to bringing our creations to life and learning the clay-working skills necessary to succeed in Ceramics. We have some tools, clay, and glaze in our classroom studio now, but the work my student's have been dreaming of and carefully planning requires more color options and more specific tools for carving and shaping our clay. This list of tools also includes two new types of clay for advanced students to work with to stretch their creative talents by adapting to the feel and unique textures of new clay.
The ceramics studio is a place of color, form, texture and FUN-these materials will give us more options to bring our creative visions into being.
The bulk of this wish list are undergalzes, which are the "paint" of the ceramics world. Underglaze allows for color mixing and matching, something traditional glaze can't offer. With these underglazes, students will master color theory standards and apply them to their sculptural and useful objects. Eventually, as their visions become actualized, students will take their artwork home to share with their families, which increases the joy and creative wonder that is so critical to artistic development. The arts are so critical in these trying, emotionally burnt-out times. they are a balm for our distressed psyches. Help me give my students and their families the gift of colorful creations and the experience of bringing them to life.
