Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My wonderful students are located at 2 different schools, both located in low income neighborhoods. Unfortunately, many of them are not used to seeing beauty around them. I’d like to help them not only see that beauty is everywhere but also that beauty is in each one of them!
My Project
My students are so capable and brilliant, but, being in two low income schools and having the arts programs in many public schools across America with less and less funds, we are struggling to move beyond what they have mastered.
My students do not have access to many art supplies when they aren’t in school.
Over the pandemic when we were on Zoom, many of the students didn’t even have a pencil or paper to draw on.
My students amaze me every day with their creativity and wonder. I want to make sure I do everything I can for them to excel, show them the beauty of the world around them, and understand their own creative minds!
