My Project
I am so excited to start my second year as an elementary English Language (EL) teacher! My role is to work with my students to develop their English proficiency, particularly in areas of reading, writing, and social language, so that they are able to succeed academically and socially. Thank you so much for your role in helping me support my amazing students!
My students this year will be kindergarten and 2nd grade learners who come from a variety of countries and cultures and have incredible cultural and linguistic knowledge.
Their home languages include Hmong, Spanish, Arabic, Karen, and more. Some have recently immigrated to Minnesota, and some were born in Saint Paul. They bring an amazing diversity to our school and community, and they deserve access to the best learning environment possible.
While in my first year, I was able to use basic supplies provided by the school. With your help, I would like to give them more hands-on materials for learning such as magnetic letters, play dough, and letter stamps. For elementary learners, incorporating more play is crucial to creating an engaging learning environment. I hope to bring more joy into the classroom and support my students' language development by using a variety of materials during small group time and literacy instruction.
