Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Did you find it difficult to learn new math concepts? My students are second language learners and don't always understand the language of math. Being able to see and visualize new math concepts makes learning easier and more fun. A computer will give my class assess to the math program DVDs.
My students are low income, second language learners who attend a large California elementary school.
They are excited about learning. They are bright, inquisitive students who don't let their lack of experiences slow them down. They challenge me each day to show them the world from our classroom.
My Project
The language in math is difficult for students learning English. Being able to see new math concepts come alive right before their eyes is a powerful tool to help them understand the lesson's purpose. The students enjoy the colorful animation and step by step instruction offered on the DVDs. The DVDs make learning math fun while exposing them to important math terms and concepts. When the class computer's DVD player stopped working in December, the students were disappointed because I had no way to play the math DVDs. A new computer with a DVD player will allow the students to access the math program DVDs. My students will once again look forward to math and learning in a exciting way.
The math DVDs are an important part of the math program.
A new computer with a DVD player will enable me to include the DVD lessons as part of our daily math lessons. Seeing and hearing the math lessons will help the students gain a better understanding of basic math concepts and motivate them to learn in a fun and exciting way.
