My Project
My name is Kathleen Moore, and I have the distinct privilege of teaching at a Title I school in the city of Lowell. I have been teaching English Language Learners for two years now at my current school-- however, we do not have a library! My students are 2nd graders and struggle with literacy as both elementary students and English Learners. Thus, I am trying to start a library club at my school that will help reinforce a love of literature and reading in the hearts and minds of my students.
Without the love of reading, my students will have no want to learn or improve on their current reading levels.
Without creating a library of my own in my own classroom, I cannot embark on this grand journey. I have already gathered a number of books through secondhand donations, my own purchases, and whatever other means afforded to me, but, it all still falls short. These kiddos are thirsty for a variety of different materials to read-- and-- they have a wide variety of reading levels as well. Hopefully, with your graciousness, we can establish a proper classroom library to kick off our library club. It would mean the world to both the kiddos and me. Thank you.
