Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As of August 16, I will teach 80 eighth graders in an underserved community in a large city in Texas. My students are learning how to be empathetic, successful citizens of the world while striving for academic success.

Our school exists to eliminate educational inequity by partnering with the community.

We develop students who are ready to excel in and graduate from a 4-year college. We empower our students to demonstrate resilience and integrity, advocate for self and their community, and always strive for excellence.

My Project

Classroom libraries are incredibly important. My students need engaging reading choices made available to them. My school does not offer a full library, and many of my students do not have access to books outside of school.

Many of my students read below reading level, and these books will help improve their literacy.

They can't become better readers if they do not read, and these books will offer them choices they would be interested in reading. Many of these titles have authors and characters of color which is a majority of the population at my school. These titles also have characters and authors in the LGBTQ community.
