My Students
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” - George R.R. Martin
Please help my students delve into the diverse world of literature!
We are looking to expand our classroom library to include a variety of new perspectives in hopes of igniting an enthusiasm for reading, providing relatable characters to all, and engaging in open-minded conversations about global issues.
My Project
The necessity of reading is still very much alive and well--even in the high school setting. As students mature, experience life, and navigate the young-adult stages it is imperative that they be able to turn to literature and see themselves represented. The books requested will be used to offer student-choice reading in hopes that students find a passion and enthusiasm for reading and learning.
In our class, we spend time doing independent reading, where students are allowed to choose the book that interests them most.
These materials will enable all students to have a free, in-class option. The classroom library allows students to browse books freely, read a few pages and scan, and feel comfortable in checking out a book with their teacher.
Thank you all for considering a donation to our classroom library!
