Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach inclusion classes, which means that my class consists of general students and students with special needs. I also teach in a low income area. There are times my students come to class hungry and I do my best to make sure everyone is comfortable in my class. My lesson plans consist of a mixture of group work and direct instruction. I requested a mobile laptop cart so I can move throughout my lessons. I use my laptop to project to a screen in front of my class, while moving around the classroom to assist academically and behaviorally. We also use whiteboards and work in collaborative groups daily. Typically the start and conclusion of each lesson consists of collaborative groups and discussion. Math games, lessons, and practice problems are more helpful when I have enough erasers and expo markers. Since 2020 and COVID 19 teaching practices, I have had to teach students to communicate and interact with each other on a daily basis. Although I value the use of technology, I'm striving to give my students the opportunity to interact with their teacher and their peers in a way that will benefit them in the future.
