My Project
I teach both upper level (Dual-Credit) math and remedial math classes. I have students who have learning challenges and others who are classified as gifted. Both types of students, everyone actually, will benefit from these supplies and equipment.
I want to create a classroom environment that is both calming and educational.
The florescent lighting is hard on students who tend to get headaches (and me). The light covers and the lamps will set a calming mood. In addition, the lamps have remotes; it will be easier to turn them off when leaving.
I want to create a place in which the students have the tools to create interactive notebooks that will be useful and interesting for them. We glue a lot of materials into our notebooks. Having enough notebooks and glue will be very helpful for this purpose. The TPT card will also allow me to purchase more fun and helpful items to place in their notebooks. Many students end up treasuring their notebooks.
I want to create a place where they can relax and have their needs met while learning. At a training this year, they provided us all with Theraputty while learning and I found it very helpful. I think many of my students would also find it helpful. Students' legs get restless sitting in a chair/desk all day and the seat bands could help with that. I prefer students to stay in their desks, so I can more easily check their work and help them, so this is a good alternative to flexible seating, in my opinion.
I also want to have some more educational math posters around the room, like word walls. I have some posters, and yet I see more useful and engaging ones on TPT that I would like to update my room with.
