My Students
I have forty students all together but only teach twenty at one time. I love working with all of them as we further our reading and writing skills as well as our understanding of both United States and Illinois history. My students are working hard during their first full year back in person. Not only are we working on our education but we are also remembering what it is like to socialize with one another daily as well as working on our handwriting rather than typing on a computer. One reason they are so hard working is that they are just happy to be together in person once again.
I am beyond grateful for my students, not only am I a first-year teacher but I am also arriving at their school mid-year.
All of my students have welcomed me with open hearts and minds and I could not have asked for a better first group of students.
My Project
As a new teacher, my classroom library still has a lot of room to grow. My goal by the end of the year is to have a diverse enough library that I will truly have something designed for each and every one of my students! I hope by providing my students with not only books but book series that they will pick up book one and be invested enough that they cannot put it down until they have read them all.
Graphic novel series in particular are very popular among my students.
I hope that these new books will give them more choices and help foster their already growing love for reading.
