My Project
Hi, friends! I’m Miss Cory Johnson. I teach at a Title I school, located in the inner-city of Atlanta, where all scholars are eligible for free lunch. My students come from various backgrounds and home situations, and they aren't always the most positive - given that, I want them to always feel like Miss Johnson’s class is a safe haven or a second home because that's what they deserve. I am able to ensure that their basic needs are met by having basic essentials readily available for them (snacks, deodorant, a hairbrush), allowing them to be able to focus on their learning as opposed to them focusing on being hungry, not having their hair done, or forgetting to put deodorant on before they left their house. The items on my list will assist greatly with me being able to do this.
My scholars are special because no matter what, they run to school.
They put in their best efforts daily and work tremendously hard despite what may be going on around them. I want to show them, by providing these items in my classroom, that they always have someone who loves them and wants to help them be their best selves.
