My Project

As a first-year teacher, acquiring supplies and resources has been a challenge. The items I am requesting have been hand-selected with my students in mind and will benefit future classes as well. Having a podium will allow me to have better control of the space in my room. My lessons rely on me being mobile in my classroom, so having a podium that can move with me will allow me to support more students in a shorter amount of time. General supplies like highlighters will allow my students to borrow items without needing to ask. Lots of my students come from low-income backgrounds and often feel embarrassed if they don't have the supplies needed for a lesson. Posters and decorations will make my classroom feel welcoming and will inspire a positive mindset. I feel like I am constantly having to uplift students who have such a negative mindset about themselves and their abilities. I want my room to be covered in positive messages for them to see and hopefully internalize.

Access to quality supplies and resources will make me a more effective teacher and will give my students opportunities to demonstrate their skills in a multitude of ways.

I am proud of each of my students, and I want to be able to accommodate their unique needs and give them an environment that not only is conducive to learning but feels homey.

My students inspire me every day, and my goal is to give that back to them. The benefit of all of these resources is that they will allow me to be a more effective and capable teacher for my students. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
